This would also be a great way to twin-engine one of these, haha.

Man, I love this thing. There's something so delightfully twisted about a rear-engined, air-cooled Rabbit.

Twisted, but not so twisted it turns off the purists. It is really great.

I remember seeing something similar to this but using a cabriolet instead of the hatchback a few years ago. It wasn't lifted and rode at stock height, it looked almost like it came from the factory. The motor was sitting behind that little trunk flap.

I did a bit of looking, but no luck.

Did find these though:

Mk1 built on a bug pan.

Should have used a Type IV motor, for more flatness in the back.

Reminds of when I lived in Berlin in the '90s and came across a MK2 Golf Synchro but much higher ride height on a tubular steel separate chassis! It seemed factory made, apparently a sort of early crossover prototype.

It didn't look like this did it? Golf Country (3000 produced).

That's it! Well done.

Somehow I like the look of that better than modern soft roaders/crossovers. (Miss my MK2)
